APhA-ASP Annual Midyear Regional Meeting
APhA-ASP would like to share with you our trip to Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN that we took November 2-4th for our Midyear Regional Meeting (MRM). The MRM is an annual meeting in which all the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists organizations come together, in their region, and discuss and vote on resolutions which will eventually be brought to the APhA Annual Meeting. At the APhA Annual Meeting these resolutions will be voted on again and, if passed, will be recorded as an official APhA policy.
The MRM provides a great opportunity for students to network with other pharmacy students, as well as other leaders within APhA. There are workshops for students to attend which cover areas such as improving patient counseling skills and finding residency sites. The meeting provides a good foundation for future pharmacy leaders through its ability to inspire students to stand up and fight for issues that matter in pharmacy.
We had 18 students attend the meeting, which is the largest number of students that we've had represent Toledo in the past few years. We brought five resolutions to the meeting, and two of them passed. This is a great accomplishment, and something I am very proud our chapter was able to do, as it is very difficult to have a resolution passed.
Thanks in part to Dean Early's financial support, the meeting's opening reception was a great time, and started the weekend off on a good note. The annual opening reception provides a casual environment for the students of different pharmacy schools to mingle before the business sessions that occur over the following two days.
Please enjoy the pictures.
