Community Pharmacy Residency Program
Why Do a Community Residency?
- Jump start your career (1 year residency = 3-5 years traditional practice)
- Contribute to advancing patient care in the fastest growing segment of pharmacy practice
Residency Goals and Activities
- Initiate and maintain disease state management and medication therapy management programs
- Provide general health and wellness promotions, immunizations, and disease prevention programs
- Provide direct patient care
- Manage drug information services
- Develop a practice-oriented project, prepare and present findings at regional or national meetings, and submit a manuscript for journal publication
- Precept and teach Doctor of Pharmacy students
Residency Details
- Program length: 12 months July 1 - June 30
- Estimated stipend $30,000
- Benefits: provided through the University of Toledo and including, but not limited to, health insurance, sick leave, vacation, professional and interview leave, and travel allowance to attend national and regional meetings
Accreditation
- Accredited in Pharmacy Practice (with emphasis in Community Care) through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in partnership with the American Pharmacists Association
Application Requirements
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited school or college of pharmacy
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Ohio
Residency Sites
The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy currently partners with Kroger on a project to develop and implement advanced pharmaceutical care services in the retail practice setting. Initiatives at this time are primarily focused upon asthma and diabetes care. The College of Pharmacy also provides pharmacy services for the Neighborhood Health Association. Click for details
